Meet our Senior Leadership Team
Paul Sjogren was officially commissioned as the eighth Principal of Trinity Anglican School in 2017. Before this, he was Head of a Wigan Boarding House at Ballarat Grammar School, Head of Mathematics at Whitsunday Anglican School in Mackay, and Director of Senior School and Deputy Principal at St Andrew’s Anglican College on the Sunshine Coast. He has also taught overseas in Indiana and Florida in the USA.
A product of regional Anglican school education, Paul is an advocate of the moral and ethical foundations that underpin Anglican education. He emphasises the importance of giving students the opportunity and support to reach their potential in all aspects of their schooling.
Paul has an unmatched commitment to optimising student academic achievement. He nurtures a supportive and engaging culture and values the importance of extension experiences to build character and resilience.
Paul believes that truly outstanding schools can balance the global and digital future needs of students with the traditional values of hard work, tolerance, teamwork, leadership and service. As a result, Paul has created a positive, engaged, award-winning school community that is growing quickly and achieving amazing outcomes.
Tim Manea joined Trinity Anglican School in 2016 as the Director of Innovation, Teaching & Learning. Before arriving at TAS, Tim held several positions at St Mark’s Anglican Community School in Western Australia, where he taught for 17 years, including in roles such as Dean of Curriculum and Head of the English Faculty. Tim was also the recipient of the Peter Foss Scholarship at St Mark’s ACS, as well as being selected as a distinguished Educator in Residence with Rubicon International, based out of Portland, Oregon.
Tim holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and Diploma of Education from the University of Western Australia and is finalising his Master of Education Studies from the same institution.
As a senior leader at Trinity Anglican School, Tim oversees the implementation of the Australian Curriculum, ensuring that it is directly aligned to the strategic goals of the school. The result of this work has seen steady and sustained growth in the academic results across the school – including NAPLAN and QCAA end of Year 12 data.
In 2021, Tim was appointed the Deputy Principal at Trinity Anglican School, and he hopes to continue to influence the educational landscape in Cairns and beyond. He looks forward to a continued focus at TAS on producing students who think and act locally and globally.
Jennifer Fukushima joined Trinity Anglican School in 2019 and is currently the Head of Secondary. She has held a number of senior leadership roles within the School, including Dean of Students and Head of Faculty – Languages and The Arts, with a strong focus on student wellbeing, pastoral care and fostering a positive school culture. Prior to joining TAS, Jennifer worked at Brisbane Girls Grammar School as Head of Japanese and is also an alumna of the school. She spent 18 years living and working in Japan, where she raised her two children and gained extensive international experience across kindergarten, primary, secondary and tertiary education as a classroom teacher, lead teacher, coordinator and lecturer.
Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Arts (Modern Asian Studies) and a Graduate Diploma of Secondary Education, and is currently completing a Master of Education (Educational Leadership). She also contributes at a state level through her ongoing work with the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority. Jennifer is committed to creating learning environments where students feel known, supported and challenged, whilst empowering staff through clarity, trust and a shared sense of purpose. She is passionate about ensuring students in regional communities have access to the same opportunities as those in metropolitan areas.
Andre Leroy is the Head of Teaching and Learning (P–12) at Trinity Anglican School, bringing more than 20 years of experience across education systems in South Africa and Australia. He has held a range of leadership roles across academic, pastoral, co-curricular and boarding contexts, including Dean of Studies, where he led curriculum design and implementation, teaching and learning strategy, assessment, and data-informed improvement. Andre also has experience in the purposeful integration of emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, into educational practice.
Andre brings a global perspective to his work and is committed to creating inclusive, supportive and high-expectation learning environments where students are known, challenged and supported to reach their potential. As a whole-school instructional leader, he works closely with staff and senior leaders to build coherence across P–12, with a focus on evidence-informed pedagogy, clarity of practice and sustainable professional learning. He is passionate about ensuring students in regional communities have access to the same quality of learning and opportunity as their metropolitan peers, and is committed to strengthening teaching and learning at TAS through continuous improvement and a strong culture of professional trust.
Peter Gazzola moved to Cairns in 2018 after accepting a contract role as Head of Primary at the White Rock Campus. Feeling a strong connection with the values and community of TAS, he has remained in this role and continues to share his passion for innovation and technology.
Peter graduated from the Australian Catholic University as valedictorian before teaching in the Catholic school system in Victoria where he held senior roles as Deputy Principal, acting Principal and played a valuable role in the development of strategic plans.
He is a passionate advocate for technology in the classroom and even pioneered initiatives to combine technology with inquiry through embedded ICT and laptop programs before being seconded to the independent system at Ivanhoe Grammar School and St Andrew’s Anglican College.
Peter has recently attended conferences both in Australia and overseas and has also published articles on implementing effective change for schools in the ISQ Catalyst and the Independent Learner magazines. Peter’s son is the Head Coach for the Marlin Swimming Club, and his daughter, who graduated from RMIT with Honours in Architecture, is completing her Masters at the Bartlett School of Architecture at the University College London.
Darren Morrissy is a seasoned executive with extensive experience in the education sector, specialising in financial management, operations, and strategic leadership. As Head of Business Services at Trinity Anglican School, Darren brings a wealth of expertise in ensuring the school’s long-term sustainability. Darren’s strategic insights and collaborative leadership style make him an integral part of TAS’ senior management team.
Darren Osmond joined TAS as the Director of Activities in 2006, before becoming Head of Co-Curricular and Director of Outdoor Education. He has over 30 years of experience working in the Outdoor Education, Recreation and Sports Industry and has travelled widely to approximately 30 countries.
Darren’s knowledge of the tropical environment from an Outdoor Education perspective is unrivalled, supported by his degrees in Exercise Science (Human Movement), Outdoor Education and Education. He has undertaken higher-level training in several areas, including Lifeguarding and Rescue, Wilderness First Aid, and Mental Health First Aid, including trauma-informed counselling.
His role extends as the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Coordinator and as the World Challenge Coordinator, having led Expeditions to Borneo, Ecuador, Tanzania, Nepal and India.
His passion has driven the creation of an innovative, national award-winning department, recognised by Outdoor Education Australia for Best Program, Outdoors Queensland for Outstanding Achievement Award, and the Australian Education Awards for Best Co-Curricular Program, along with several individual achievement awards.
As the North Queensland President of the Outdoor Educators Association of Queensland, Darren is highly respected in the industry. His expertise has seen him present at numerous outdoor education conferences, and his work has been featured in Outdoor Australia magazine, Anglican Schools Australia magazine, The Cairns Post, and PAKMAG.
Anna Timings is the Head of People and Culture at Trinity Anglican School, bringing extensive experience in human resources leadership within the education sector. She has a strong background in strategic workforce planning, employee relations and organisational development, and has played a key role in shaping a positive and high-performing workplace culture at TAS.
Anna is committed to fostering an environment where staff feel supported, valued and empowered to perform at their best. Her approach focuses on building strong relationships, clear processes and sustainable people practices that enable the School to attract, retain and develop high-quality staff. She works closely with leaders across the School to ensure alignment between people strategy and organisational priorities, supporting a culture that reflects the values of Trinity Anglican School.
Alana Hales is the Head of Growth and Engagement at Trinity Anglican School, leading the School’s strategic approach to marketing, enrolments, communications and community engagement. She joined TAS from a national marketing role within the fastest growing division of News Corp Australia, bringing strong expertise in brand, customer experience and growth strategy. Alana has since held progressive leadership roles at TAS and takes a data-informed and outcomes-focused approach to building sustainable enrolment growth and strengthening the School’s market position.
Alana is committed to enhancing the parent experience and strengthening engagement across the School community. She works to ensure families feel informed, connected and supported at every stage of their journey with TAS, from first enquiry through to graduation. Her focus is on creating clear, consistent and meaningful communication, building strong relationships with families, and fostering a genuine sense of partnership between home and school.
