School swimming program
TAS primary students learns to swim. Every term.
Swimming is compulsory at TAS from Prep through to Year 6 and runs every single term of the year. Students at White Rock Campus swim at the TAS Aquatic Centre, while Kewarra Beach students access an alternative aquatic facility. Each child receives a report on their swimming progress, and the program is fully integrated into the curriculum as part of our commitment to health, physical education and wellbeing. In Tropical North Queensland, water safety is not optional. At TAS, it is a priority.
Learn to Swim
From first splashes to confident strokes.
Our Learn to Swim program welcomes children from 3 years old through to adults, across five progressive levels designed to build confidence, technique and water safety at every stage.
Preparation: For toddlers 36 months and over. Focuses on fundamentals: following instructions, floating and pop-up breathing.
Level 1: For children who cannot yet swim independently. Body position, breathing and diving technique are the focus.
Level 2: For swimmers who can cover short distances. Develops correct freestyle head turn, breathing and side swimming.
Level 3: For swimmers completing 15 metres of freestyle and backstroke. Builds resilience, technique, timing and rhythm.
Mini Squad: The bridge between Learn to Swim and Squad training. For swimmers ready to take the next step.
