Meet our Principal

From the Principal

We are not simply educating students. We are shaping the people they are becoming.
Every year, I have the privilege of watching young people walk across our graduation stage having been transformed by their time at TAS. Not just academically capable, though they certainly are that. But genuinely ready: thoughtful, resilient, curious about the world and clear about who they are. That is the education we set out to provide, and it is what I am most proud of when I reflect on what Trinity Anglican School stands for.

Academic excellence is something we take seriously and pursue with rigour. Approximately 95% of our Year 12 students achieve an ATAR, and our results consistently place TAS among Queensland's leading schools. But those numbers are the outcome of something deeper: a culture where students are genuinely engaged, where teachers are outstanding and deeply committed, and where the values of the school and the values of the family move in the same direction.

Curiosity, integrity, compassion and perseverance are not just words we display. They are the conditions that make great learning possible. That culture is built from the very beginning. In our Early Learning centres, flexible and creative programs nurture a natural love of discovery long before formal study begins. Through Primary School, strong foundations in literacy and numeracy are developed with care and intention, balanced with the collaborative, student-centred approaches that help young people learn how to think, not just what to think. In the Middle Years, we place particular emphasis on wellbeing, giving students the tools to navigate adolescence with confidence and self-awareness. And in Year 9, our 18-day Outdoor Education expedition asks students to go further than they thought possible, building the kind of independence and resilience that no classroom alone can teach. Year 10 then turns the lens toward the future, with our Pathways Program, Work Experience and Leadership Development preparing students to approach their senior years with purpose and clarity.

We want every TAS student to leave knowing not just what they have achieved, but who they have become.

None of this happens by accident. It is the result of extraordinary teachers, engaged families and a school community that holds itself to a high standard, every single day. If you are considering TAS for your child, I warmly invite you to come and experience it in person. Meet our students, walk our campus, and see for yourself what a school built around character, curiosity and genuine care looks like. I look forward to welcoming you.

Paul Sjogren
Principal
Trinity Anglican School
Meet Paul Sjogren. TAS Principal and St Kilda supporter (we won't hold that against him).
Paul Sjogren was commissioned as the eighth Principal of Trinity Anglican School in 2017, bringing with him a breadth of experience across some of Australia's most respected Anglican schools. Before joining TAS, Paul served as Head of a Wigan Boarding House at Ballarat Grammar School, Head of Mathematics at Whitsunday Anglican School in Mackay, and Director of Senior School and Deputy Principal at St Andrew's Anglican College on the Sunshine Coast. He has also taught in Indiana and Florida in the United States.

A product of regional Anglican school education himself, Paul understands deeply what this kind of schooling can mean for a young person. He is a genuine advocate for the moral and ethical foundations that underpin Anglican education, and believes that the greatest gift a school can give its students is the opportunity and support to reach their potential in every aspect of their lives.

Paul's leadership at TAS is defined by an unwavering commitment to academic excellence, a belief in the power of character education and a conviction that truly outstanding schools can hold two things at once: a bold vision for the future and a deep respect for the values that endure. Hard work, teamwork, leadership and service are not old-fashioned ideals at TAS. Under Paul's leadership, they are the foundations of a school community that is growing, thriving and achieving remarkable things.
